‘’Tbilisi’’. This is a wonderful city where the past and the present are harmoniously
intertwined. Each street and building, monument has its own special charm. The
name of the city comes from the word “Tbilisi” – “warm”. Indeed, the city is very
warm and sincere. Everyone who has visited at least once will not be able to
forget him and will strive to come again and again. Excursion around the city of
Tbilisi: a walk along the old streets of Meydan (Abanotubani) to the area of the famous sulfur baths (where those who wish can swim in their free time, where A.
Pushkin and M. Lermontov loved to swim), scientists call it a unique architectural
monument, which has no analogues in one country in the world. During the city

Excursion to Kazbegi (we breathe freely the mountain air) Along the Georgian
military roads, along the gorge of the Aragvi river, we begin our journey to the
north, to the Main Caucasian ridge. After the grandiose Zhinvali reservoir, the
impressive and powerful Fortress Ananuri will appear before our eyes. For many
centuries, this stronghold was the last line of defense for the inhabitants of this
part of the country – the fortress blocks the entrance to the gorge and in order to
get there, the enemy had to seize the bastions, and this was rarely possible for
anyone … Almost at the very top of the pass (and the highest point is 2395
meters), the Gudauri ski resort is conveniently and freely located. To enjoy the
unique and breathtaking views of the mighty mountains, we pass Gudauri and
reach the observation deck, from where all the splendor of these places will open
before our eyes. From Gudauri we continue to move north. The main Caucasian
ridge is left behind and we are driving along the gorge of the Tergi river, which is
further in the North Caucasus known as the Terek. We reach the village of Kazbegi
(Stepantsminda), from where it is only a few kilometers to the Georgian- Russian
border. Here, if we are lucky and the peak is not behind the clouds, we will see
one of the highest mountains in the Caucasus – Kazbek (5033 m). Visit to the
Church of the Holy Trinity Sameba, built in the 14th century on the top of one of the mountains (more than 2300 meters high) near Kazbegi.

Kutaisi is Georgia’s second largest metropolitan area and currently serves as the
parliamentary legislative capital. It is located in the central western region of
Imereti on the banks of the Rioni River. Kutaisi was the capital of the fabled
Kingdom of Colchis. The myth of the Golden Fleece originates here as the waters
of the Rioni were once panned for gold using sheep skin. Kutaisi’s appeal lies in
both its natural scenery and its historic and architectural monuments, particularly
its unique river bridges, sacred cathedrals and monastic structures. The city is rich
with regional Georgian cuisine, museums and shopping. Kutaisi also serves as a
transportation hub for domestic and trans-European air travel, lending a
cosmopolitan vibrancy to its small-town charm.

Departure to Prometheus Cave, where an unforgettable sight awaits us. The excursion includes two of the most striking sights of the regions of Imereti and
Samegrelo. Cave Prometheus is a whole complex of karst caves, accidentally
discovered in 1984 in the city of Kumistavi, named after a nearby village. This is
the largest equipped cave in Georgia (length – 1450 m, height- up to 80 m). The
kingdom of underground lakes, rivers, stalactites and stalagmites. If you wish, you
can take a boat ride onunderground river, admiring the natural beauty of the
underground kingdom flowing into a mountain lake.
In a cave roundthe year the temperature is + 14-15 degrees and it is rather humid
– 98%. Martvili Canyons is located near the village of Gachedili, in the gorge of the
river Abasha, on the edge of the central Martvili-Chkhorotsku central road, 210
m above sea level. It is a canyon cut by the river Abasha in the anticline built by
the limestone rocks of Abdati. The length of the canyon is 2400 m, the depth of
the cut is 20-30 m, and the width is 5-10m. Natural limestone bridges are
preserved in two places in the canyon, which indicates that a karst cave once
collapsed here. In addition, in the middle of the canyon there are small waterfalls
with a height of 12-15 m. One section is distinguished by its special beauty. This
is Oputskhole, known as the “Dadiani Bath”. To get here, the trail leads to a
staircase built of large blocks of limestone. The flora characteristic of the Colchian
Forest is developed on the nearby limestone cliffs, with its unique
representatives, which can be found here: Bear, Colchian birch, Utkhovari and
others. There are many different types of moss, ferns. After amazing trip in
Martvili we continue our journey to Tbilisi Airport.
